At our May, 2006, meeting the Shared Decision Making/School Site Council decided to implement a character traits program for the new school year. Each staff member is being asked to support this effort by highlighting the monthly traits in their classroom, posting the "Great Character Traits" chart, choosing as the student of the month a child who demonstrates the monthly traits on a consistent basis, and recognizing students who return the biweekly homework tasks, which are based on the monthly traits, with a Good As Gold ticket. These homework tasks will be part of our parent involvement program since they require that the parent participate in the completion of the homework.

Each week, rather than using the "Word of the Day", we will highlight in the weekly bulletin a word or phrase related to the monthly focus trait. Teachers will share the terms with their students in a way which best suits their teaching style. A list of the weekly words is attached:
