PHILOSOPHY--  The Nuffer School Community values courteous, respectful people and is in agreement with the Board of Education’s expressed desire to foster universal values such as honesty, responsibility, respectfulness, compassion, cooperation, perseverance, courage, and civil duty.  We also firmly embrace the guiding principals of Project G.L.A.D. - - make good decisions, solve problems, and show respect.

Students can make good decisions, solve problems in a positive manner, and show respect by treating others as you want to be treated:

  • Following adult directions the first time
  • Using only kind and courteous language
  • Always telling the truth
  • Keeping hands, feet, and objects to themselves
  • Being attentive in class
  • Doing all their work to the best of their ability
  • Following dress code; uniforms must be worn unless child has a waiver
  • Being prepared to work each day (having all supplies and returning all homework)
  • Requesting adult help when they are unable to solve a problem
  • Arriving on time to class
  • Using all equipment as it was intended to be used
  • Following all game rules and safety procedures

INCENTIVES - - WE BELIEVE IN RECOGNIZING GOOD BEHAVIOR
The best incentive is the good feeling you know you have done a good job.  Other incentives include earning Scout Awards (for making good choices, solving problems, respecting others), Good As Gold tickets, signing the Proud Board, winning the principal’s trophy, lunch with the principal, and teacher rewards.

CONSEQUENCES - - Each teacher has a set of established classroom expectations

Most Nuffer students are very well behaved.  When students choose NOT to make good decisions, NOT to solve problems positively, or NOT to show he/she will be sent to speak with the principal and the principal may issue an office referral.  All office referrals will be mailed home.  Students with 3 referrals must meet with the parent and the principal.  Students with 10 referrals will be referred to District Guidance for possible reassignment to another school or other intervention.
