- Advising the School Site Council (SSC) on the development of the Single School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA). Advising the School Site Council on the school's program, goals, and objectives for EL programs/services.

Call the Meeting to Order:
The meeting called to order at 8:15 a.m. by Principal Sherry Herrera. She welcomed all present to the Nuffer School English Learner Advisory Committee and asked everyone to introduce him/herself.
Changes/Additions to the Meeting Agenda:
No changes/additions were made to the agenda.
Secretary's Report:
Each member received a copy of the minutes for 4/24/09. There were no corrections needed.
Legal Requirements: The following is a summary of discussion/action(s) taken on any of the above-described Legal Requirement(s). When parents offer input, advice, or comments on any of the legally-required topics, summarize briefly here under the correct category.
Advising SSC on Development of SPSA: The principal shared that the SDM/SSC would be updating the Program Improvement section of the school plan in June.
Advising Principal and Staff on Program for ELLs: parents were invited to
visit classrooms during Systematic ELD time.
Assisting in the development of the school's needs assessment: Members completed a needs assessment for the school. Results will be posted on the web.
Training Opportunities for ELAC in Consultation with ELAC Members Cathy Alvarez trained parents on the importance of literacy. Parents made puppets to accompany traditional early literacy chants and poems.

Rosa Perez and Lupe Avila did a wonderful job of sharing information from the DELAC
Meeting.

Patty Prieto encouraged parents to join PTA and volunteer for one of the committees or activities.
